Greg Rowland is one of the world’s leading commercial semioticians. He helped found the discipline when it first got off the ground in the early 1990s, when he joined the world’s first-ever commercial semiotics team Semiotic Solutions, led by the late and much-missed Ginny Valentine. Since then, he has gone on to develop his own unique approach to semiotics: throwing out methodological dogma and mixing up all kinds of thought systems to forge groundbreaking ideas. Academic purists might not like it – but some of the world’s top marketers do: they’ve seen Greg’s approach solve problems that have eluded all other methodologies.
There is one more thing you absolutely must know about Greg: he is the only commercial semiotician ever to have appeared on iconic British TV show Top of the Pops. If his claim can be challenged, we want to know immediately.
